On Thursday 7th May, Castle Douglas High School were victorious in the Small Schools Regional Cup Final, winning 5-1 against Moffat Academy at Palmerston Park, Dumfries.  In the first half, Castle Douglas set their stall out with three well taken goals.  First on the score sheet was Rian Florence, scoring an excellent header straight from a corner kick.  Jack Forsyth then doubled the lead with a well-placed shot into the corner, before scoring his second and the teams’ third goal just before half time.  For much of the second half, Moffat Academy more than matched Castle Douglas, eventually scoring 15 minutes from time to make it 3-1.  Five minutes later however, the game was sealed when Thomas Bowden was sent through on goal and he calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.  With minutes left on the clock, captain Joseph Strain put the icing on the cake with a goal from close range to make it 5-1.
