The school library is a bright and welcoming area, a centre of learning and reading activity. Classes and individual pupils are encouraged to use the library throughout the school day. Our qualified librarian, Ms Taylor, is available from 9 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday.

We aim to provide a range of resources to support learning and teaching.The library stock is of good quality and improved constantly with new publications including prize winning fiction and recently published non-fiction.  We aim to provide an appropriate, interesting and challenging range of resources to support learning and teaching.

The library has three computers for student use, providing an additional resource for class work and private study. There are also study guides and careers resources for careers research and to support applications to colleges and universities. Information Literacy classes are provided for study support.

Pupils are encouraged to recommend books and request new stock.The library also promotes reading and writing for enjoyment and hosts visits from poets and authors. The library supports the Book Club, Creative Writing Club and Debating Club. Members of the Book Club participate in major book awards including the prestigious Carnegie Book Prize and the Scottish Children’s Book Awards. Other library activities include entering competitions, design and display work and writing reviews. Links with Scottish Booktrust enable the school to be involved in national reading initiatives. There is a regular display of themed books and reader development material to raise awareness of library stock and current literature. Pupils are encouraged to recommend books and request new stock.

Our library provides a welcoming and supportive environment.Pupils of all ages opt to help in the library on a regular basis and their involvement and contribution are most valuable. Inclusion of all pupils is ensured by providing appropriate resources and a welcoming and supportive environment.
